A dustbath in Rock Valley Raceway.
Location : Rock Valley Raceway, Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada.
It was an absolute dust bath at Rock Valley Raceway in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
I would be lying if I didn't say I was crying for my camera a little bit but it's the cost of being a motocross photographer, and it certainly was worth it.
This was the first race I attended since moving to Alberta and honestly just brought my camera for fun.
I was super pumped when I found out they had a local race circuit in Northern Alberta and British Columbia.
I immediately wrote down all the dates on our calendar and told my husband we have to go to atleast 3 of them, which didn't take much convincing.
Race day comes and as we're loading the kids into the car I ran in the house to grab my camera, after all - there's no better way to keep your focus skills sharp than fast action.
We get there and someone I had met a couple weeks before at a Demo Ride Night approaches us to chat, turns out she was racing that weekend.
Now I had a subject to capture!
At the end of race weekend, I told her I got some shots of her that I could email and she said I was crazy for giving them away.
The other photographers here sell the images individually. Honestly, I didn't know what to say. I could attend racedays, take photos and contribute to my family?
That was it, motocross photographer was the title I would pursue.
I had started my business a couple months before with the intention to focus on family photos.
I quickly realized that was not my passion.
Motocross photography had lit a fire under me that I didn’t know was out.
